ABOUT ME

Growing up, I was always that annoying student who corrected my teachers' spelling and grammar mistakes. I read obsessively and had a book in my hand whenever possible. I remember playing silly grammar games with my dad—we'd catch each other using prepositions at the ends of our sentences and then try to find the most grammatically correct ways to reword them, no matter how ridiculous we sounded. While I'm aware that this preposition rule doesn't necessarily apply in today's world, it's still a fun game! You should try it sometime.

Speaking of my dad, I was in the car with him one day when I pointed out that a prominent restaurant sign in our town had a glaring misspelling. I was seven years old at the time. Twenty-six years later, that exact sign is still standing, error and all. (It's still one of my favorite restaurants in my hometown.)

To this day, I catch myself spotting spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors constantly. The only difference is that now I've turned it into a career! Scientific editing is my jam. I love combining my biochemistry and language training to help make science straightforward and accessible to all. I enjoy working on every facet of a research paper and helping an author transform their work from a first draft to a complete publication.

When I'm not busy proofreading or editing, I enjoy spending time with my husband, dog, and son (soon to be two sons—I am due with our second in June 2025!). I also love taking dance fitness classes, reading science fiction and fantasy novels, and eating my weight in cheese.
